Narrative Reflection 3

While I was researching and learning more about the implementations of the Piaget and Vygotsky theories in the classrooms, I realized that the practices of EYFS (Early Years Foundation Stage) teachers in my former school were based on Piaget and Vygotsky, as well as Ericson.

There are two concepts that will remain with me and that I will use accordingly.  The first is the role that objects and materials play in establishing cognitive structures according to Piaget because they allow for hands on learning as well as interaction with the surrounding environment. The other is Vygotsky’s concept of the zone of proximal development.  It talks about what the students are capable of doing on their own, and what they can learn with the help of their peers or teacher’s feedback while the learning is being scaffold.
